Some people like mathematics because numbers (and their friends) can describe the world in neat and generally predictable terms. As long as you stick to the basic principles, X will always be X.
Words, on the other hand, are tricky. You can’t trust them. You could say one thing but have it come out in an entirely different way.
But this is only true if you’re careless with how you use them. Used with precision and as they were meant to mean, words are as reliable as any constant.
